The objectives of the Anesthesia Technologist program are to prepare program graduates to assist the anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in the surgical suites and prepare equipment, supplies, and patients, with supervision. The Anesthesia Technologist also trouble shoots all anesthesia equipment and maintains a clean work environment and storeroom. Anesthesia technologists work in hospitals, medical centers or clinics. Anesthesia Technologists may be scheduled to work weekends, evenings and/or holidays. Graduates should be prepared to work at the entry level.

The program offers integrated didactic and clinical education. Students are expected to attend classes Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. when scheduled for classroom training. Clinical education will be scheduled at an approved clinical education affiliate. Clinical education schedule may vary from the didactic education schedule. The program is 15 months in duration.

Class sizes will be limited to 30 students for theory courses and 25 students for laboratory courses.

Graduates will receive an Associate in Specialized Technology Degree (AST).

Studies include training in ultrasound instrumentation, specific terminology, anatomy and clinical education courses.

Training includes five terms of classroom education, integrated classroom and clinical education. The Medical Assistant Specialist program is an excellent career choice designed to permit a graduate to achieve an Associate in Specialized Technology Degree (AST) upon completion of the program.

Candidates for the Medical Assistant Specialist program must hold a High School Diploma or G.E.D. The Medical Assistant Specialist program is taught over a 15 month period which includes 10 weeks of "hands-on" externship training .The course is divided into 5 semesters totaling 1218 hours of classroom training and 300 hours of externship. As the student progresses through the program, he/she can learn techniques to prepare the patient for various types of examinations and treatments. The student can also learn how to administer EKG's, obtain (venipuncture) and analyze blood and urine samples, take limited x-rays, administer injections, and assist in minor surgery.

In addition, students can learn various subjects in theory such as medical ethics, professional patient rapport and etiquette, patient interface as well as business procedures such as: insurance processing, pegboard, and superbills. Students are expected to attend classes Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

It should be noted that classroom size is limited to 40 in lecture and 25 in laboratory. Classrooms in the Medical Assistant Specialist program have been specifically designed to incorporate medical equipment generally found in a typical physician's office such as an x-ray machine, microscope, centrifuge, x-ray, and examining tables.

Students in the Medical Assistant Specialist program will be eligible to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant Exam sponsored by the American Medical Technologist given at designated times throughout the school year. Graduates are prepared to work at the entry level.

Individuals considering this program are those who enjoy working within a health setting, organizing and participating in managing the medical office, and meeting and greeting patients. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED.

The Medical Office Administration program was designed to train students in meeting with the needs of the modern medical front office. The student can learn the responsibilities necessary to perform either in an administrative position or as an important team member of the secretarial support system for both private or public physicians offices.

As the Medical Office Administration program progresses, students will be trained in business math, English, medical terminology, word processing, typing, electronic transcription, filing, medical office procedures, telephone techniques, accounting , and medical accounting. Students will be expected to attend classes Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.

Upon completion of classroom instruction, the student is placed in a 200 clock hour externship at a medically related facility to apply classroom knowledge in a practical work situation. The externship supervisor will provide attendance confirmation and performance evaluation at completion of the externship.

Job placement services are provided by the school to assist the graduate in obtaining employment for job opportunities found in hospitals, private group practices, physicians' offices, and medical centers.
